As Australia’s state and territory governments work towards a zero-emissions future, it means that you may be eligible for rebates and incentives that will make the purchase of a vehicle like the MG ZS EV – already Australia’s most affordable battery-electric vehicle – even easier. Here’s what the ACT government is providing for eligible EV buyers.

Stamp duty exemption†
Battery-electric vehicles that are purchased for the first time are eligible for a full stamp duty exemption.
Free registration for two years†
New or used zero-emissions vehicles in the ACT purchased or acquired from 24 May 2021 and before 30 June 2024 will are eligible for two years of free registration.
How to apply
If you are registering a vehicle through a dealership, they will register the vehicle for you and advise if you and your vehicle are eligible.

If you are eligible, the waiver will only apply to the registration component of vehicle registration fees. All other relevant fees, charges, or levies related to registering a vehicle will remain, such as the annual cost of Motor Accident Injuries Insurance.
• The vehicle transaction must be finalised or the vehicle must be acquired on or after 24 May 2021 and before 30 June 2024.
For example, a purchaser can provide a deposit for a vehicle if they make the final payment on or after 24 May 2021 and before 30 June 2024.
For vehicles acquired through other means such as a gift or transfer of name, this must be completed on or after 24 May 2021 and before 30 June 2024. Please note that other fees, levies, and duties such as stamp duty may apply for transferring a vehicle into another person's name.
• Applicants must hold an ACT Drivers Licence and the vehicle must not have been registered in their name prior to 24 May 2021.
• The vehicle must be garaged at an address in the ACT.
• Business or company applicants must have a physical premise within the ACT and the vehicle must be garaged within the ACT.
The following is not included:
• Zero emissions vehicles purchased before 24 May 2021. However, they will receive a 20 percent ongoing reduction in registration fees.
Sustainable Household Scheme
Interest-free loans of up to $15,000 will be available to eligible homeowners to invest in a range of sustainable products for their homes, including new and used zero-emissions vehicles and household zero-emissions vehicle charging infrastructure.
