CHARGE HUB
FAQ
The LED light on your CHARGE HUB represents various stages of charging.
GREEN – The CHARGE HUB is on standby and ready to charge an electric vehicle.
BLUE – The CHARGE HUB is connected to an electric vehicle. Once the charging begins the blue light will change gradually.
RED – There is a fault with the CHARGE HUB. In most cases this can be fixed by pressing the red emergency shutdown button on the side of the CHARGE HUB and then twisting it clockwise to release and reset it.
- PnC (Plug & Charge) - No security. Automatically start charging any connected Electric Vehicle that is ready to accept charge.
- Start stop card – Require 'MG' RFID cards (provided with your CHARGE HUB) to start and stop charging. In this mode the EV must be plugged in first and the CHARGE HUB should show a BLUE light to indicate that it is connected. Once the charging begins the blue light will pulsate.
- Billing card – Require a registered RFID card or remote start with an OCPP platform. Requires third party software. Please note that this mode requires the CHARGE HUB to be connected to the internet with a stable connection.
The charger has a web configuration page to allow switching between the different modes. This can be found on page 29, under 'B. Web Configuration Instruction' of the MG CHARGE HUB Instruction Manual.
Please note that if you are using the MG iSmart App with your vehicle, it's recommended to leave the charger in 'Plug and Play' mode and allow the iSmart App to control the charging.
CHARGE HUB supports OCPP platforms (such as ChargeHQ or Everty) which enable remote control and monitoring of the charging behaviour.
If it is not possible to connect to CHARGE HUB via Wi-Fi, you can connect using an ethernet cable. The ethernet port is located inside the CHARGE HUB for security and weather protection. For more information on how to connect to CHARGE HUB via ethernet, refer to the Installation and User Manual.
CHARGE HUB may display a red fault light when connected to some battery or solar systems. To check if you are experiencing a ground fault error with your home energy system, connect CHARGE HUB to main grid power if possible. You can also check the status lights on a trickle/emergency wall outlet charger to determine if there is a ground fault.
