For a weekend away, plan from the distance between reliable chargers and keep a safety buffer, rather than setting a charging stop at the headline range limit. If a review quotes a real-world result, check its variant, route, weather, starting charge and load before applying it to your trip. Use the published range to compare cars, and then plan for the conditions on your route.

MG publishes the DC charging figures for the Australian variants as below. All times refer to a 10% to 80% battery charge, so they can be read on the same stated basis.

The brochures state estimated 10% to 80% CCS charging times at 25°C. These are published test figures; a higher maximum DC rating does not, by itself, mean a shorter charging stop.

Charging power fluctuates throughout a session. Battery temperature, starting charge, charger output and power sharing can all affect the result, and figures quoted for 10% to 80% time should not be compared directly with claims for 30% to 80% time.

Yes, provided you have a reliable charging solution that suits your driving. This could be at workplace, in your apartment building or on a nearby public charging network. Before buying, check access, opening hours, connector compatibility and charging costs at the locations you expect to use.

The MG4 EV Urban and MGS6 EV use Type 2 AC and CCS2 DC charging connections. Their published onboard AC limits are 6.6 kW and 11 kW respectively. A higher-rated AC charger will not make a vehicle exceed its onboard AC limit, and the available electrical supply can impose a lower limit.

If home charging is an option for you, ask a licensed electrician to assess the supply and installation requirements. In a strata building, check the approval process before ordering any charging equipment. Compare the cost and time of your actual charging options, rather than assuming public charging will work like overnight charging at home.

Plan around reliable charging stops, and keep a backup for each important leg. For regional trips, the gap between suitable chargers matters as much as the car’s published range.

Check the route, connector, charger access and payment method before departing. Use the network’s current status information where available.

Allow extra energy for motorway speeds, hills, weather and a fully-loaded car. Aim to arrive with charge in reserve.

Choose a charging stop that also works for lunch, a rest or a change of driver. Keep an alternative reachable if the first site is unavailable.

Reassess the plan as you travel. Use your car’s current battery level and consumption, rather than relying only on the original range estimate.

You don’t need to charge to 100% at every stop. Charge enough for the next reliable leg with a sensible buffer, and follow the charging guidance for your model. A longer stretch with limited facilities may need a different plan.

MG lists MG Pilot Custom for both Australian MGS6 EV Essence variants. It lets you personalise driver-assistance settings and recall your preferences. This does not establish that every setting remains active automatically after restarting.

Make adjustments while safely parked. At handover, ask the dealer to demonstrate the save-and-recall steps on your vehicle, then practise using them before driving away. Check the settings displayed each time rather than assuming they have all carried over.

Screen layouts and available functions can vary with configuration, software and market. Follow the instructions for your vehicle; a procedure shown for a different MG model or an overseas car may differ. Driver assistance is designed to support your driving and still requires you to watch the road and remain in control.

Compare each car over the same period and distance. For example, use five years and 15,000 km a year, then replace those assumptions with your own driving. The purchase price or scheduled servicing cost alone is not the full ownership cost.

Keep quoted costs separate from estimates. Resale value, future energy prices and insurance renewals may change, so test multiple scenarios. That shows whether an apparent saving is robust or depends on an unusually low tariff or optimistic resale value.

This total covers the listed scheduled services only. It isn’t a five-year total ownership cost or a promise that tyres, wear-and-tear items, repairs and other expenses are included.

Base your calculation on the electricity rate you are charged at the charger: charging cost equals billed kilowatt-hours multiplied by the rate per kilowatt-hour. For a yearly estimate, use your expected annual distance and an energy consumption figure that includes charging losses.

This is a worked example only, not a measured MG consumption figure, an electricity quote or a guarantee of savings. The 18 kWh figure already includes charging losses. Substitute it with energy consumption and tariffs relevant to your car and circumstances.

If you use both home and public charging, weight the costs by the energy bought at each. Add any session, parking, idle or subscription costs. Solar charging also has an opportunity cost if that electricity could otherwise earn a feed-in tariff credit.

For MG passenger vehicles first registered from 1 July 2025, the published policy distinguishes standard cover from a service-activated extended warranty. High-voltage battery cover has separate terms.

The extended warranty term commences from the date of first registration; it isn’t ten extra years. Component exclusions and servicing conditions apply. Commercial use includes rideshare and hire, so confirm your eligibility before purchase. Battery capacity claims follow dedicated assessment conditions; battery warranty cover does not guarantee unchanged driving range.

The extended warranty requires all scheduled servicing at authorised MG dealers within the policy’s permitted time and kilometre windows. Keep the required records. Confirm the terms for your registration date and use; these summaries do not replace the policy or affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

For MG’s policy covering vehicles first registered from 1 July 2025, the service-activated extended warranty requires all scheduled servicing at an authorised MG dealer. Follow the model’s schedule and keep the service records.

The standard warranty allows servicing by a suitably qualified Australian repairer, provided MG’s maintenance, parts and record requirements are met. MG requires each service completed within 30 days and 2,000 km of its scheduled service interval. If servicing is undertaken outside the authorised dealer network, the record must be uploaded to MG’s online service portal within ten days.

Before booking servicing outside the dealer network, consider whether you want to retain eligibility for the extended warranty period. Require the repairer to document the work, parts and fluids used. For an older-model vehicle or a different usage category, check the specific policy for that car rather than assuming the current private-use terms will apply.

For MG Motor Roadside Assist in Australia, call 1800 64 2277 (1800 MG CARS). Have your VIN, registration, location, contact number and a description of the fault on hand. The published service runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, subject to eligibility and conditions.

For an eligible breakdown that cannot be resolved on-site, MG’s policy provides towing to the nearest MG dealer or authorised service agent, with covered-distance limits of 20 km in metropolitan areas and 100 km in regional areas. Assistance and towing are limited to gazetted, sealed roads; extra distance can be at the driver’s cost.

Not all incidents or costs are covered. Services such as lost-key assistance and accident-related towing may incur charges. If your vehicle is in a hazardous location, tell the operator and keep clear of moving traffic. Confirm what assistance is available before arranging your own recovery.

Both the MG4 EV Urban and MGS6 EV have a five-star ANCAP rating dated 2025. Their Australian reports cover all variants within the stated applicability: MG4 EV Urban on sale from March 2026, and MGS6 EV on sale from June 2026, with both models built from December 2025.

Read the report for the exact model and build date. Compare the assessment year and the individual results for adult occupants, child occupants, vulnerable road users and safety assistance. A rating for one MG model should not be applied to another, and a star rating doesn’t guarantee protection in every crash.

Then check the things that matter to your household: correct child-restraint fit, visibility and how the assistance systems behave on a test drive. Judge value alongside those checks, the final price and ownership costs. Safety equipment is useful, but the driver remains responsible for watching the road and controlling the car.
