Critics give MG ZS a big thumbs up

The MG ZS compact SUV continues to win rave reviews from Australia's toughest critics. This time its CarAdvice.

MG's Australian renaissance continues to win plaudits and glowing reviews, this time from the independent critics at CarAdvice.

CarAdvice put the new MG ZS compact SUV through its rigorous week-long real-world testing regimen and found that not only is the Chinese-built SUV "sharply priced" against its rivals, it is "an accomplished small SUV" that is "affordable, packed with standard features, and finished to a standard that belies not only its price point, but also its Chinese origins".

CarAdvice is one of Australia's most-popular automotive websites, and its journalists are highly respected automotive critics. Their feedback from time behind the wheel of the MG ZS SUV is testament not only to the dedication and efforts of MG's designers, engineers and production workers, but also proof that MG cars are again of world-class quality, value and ability.

CarAdvice said "the MG ZS goes a long way to dispelling those perceptions [of Chinese cars] with its affordability, surprisingly excellent ride and comfort, interior appointments and [its] stylish ... looks".

They found a lot to like with the styling inside as well.

"Surprises abound with the MG ZS. Step inside and you'll be greeted by a mature cabin that belies its price point ... the panoramic roof adds a lightness and airiness to the already comfortable interior."

CarAdvice was also very complimentary about the MG ZS Essence's advanced drivetrain.

"Powering the ZS Essence is a spritely in-line three-cylinder, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit mated to a six-speed automatic transmission sending drive to the front wheels (there's no AWD variant in the ZS range). It's a perky application and really quite capable."

"Where the ZS really shines, though, is in its ride. Bumps, holes and imperfections are barely noticed inside the cabin. Even sharp hits, such as speed humps, are dealt with easily, the ZS settling quickly into its rhythm."

CarAdvice also said that the ZS's cabin was impressively quiet while driving.

"Noise suppression too is excellent, both around town and on the highway. There are times you have to remind yourself this is a $24K car."

CarAdvice saved the final complement for MG's industry-leading seven-year factory warranty.

"MG Motor Australia deserves plaudits for standing behind its product with a standard seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty with seven years' roadside assistance. That's industry-leading (alongside Kia) and a testament to the depths of MG's belief in its new offering."
