There's never been a better time to buy an electric vehicle (EV) with eligible Queenslanders like Pelican Waters resident Max Thompson taking full advantage of the $6,000 cash back.
"The QLD rebate of $6,000 definitely played a big part in the decision to purchase the MG4. The price ended up being $35k after recieving the rebate," Mr Thompson said.
The 2023 Carsales Car of the Year winning MG4 paired with the government incentives helped him to transition to a more sustainable transport option as he entered his retirement.
"We decided to purchase an EV earlier in the year, and that's when I first came across the MG4 online. The positive reviews I read as well as the competitive pricing won us over and we decided to purchase a white 51 Excite," he said.
While Max was a fan of how the vehicle looked on the outside, it was in fact the sleek and minamalistic look of the interior that really caught his eye.
"We liked the look of the MG4 exterior, but it was probably the interior that overall won us over. It is not overdone, and in my eyes is so much better inside then the other best selling EV's here in Australia in recent years," he said.
There are four varients in the MG4 line up being the Excite 51, Excite 64, Essence 64 and Long Range 77, each providing something unique to their respective driving experiences and specifications.
"We purchased the Excite 51, it comes very well equipped for a base model. We do not do huge kilometres on it so the 360km range really suited us well," Mr Thompson said.
"We just absolutely love how it drives, especially the pickup, there are plenty of features packed into the car for a base model."
Range anxiety is a common fear still expressed by many who are reluctant to make the jump to an EV as their daily driver, however Mr Thompson said it was never really something that crossed his mind as an issue.
"Range anxiety seems to come up often in online forums, but I think it mostly isn't a problem, especially for day-to-day driving," he said.
"If you are going to do a longer trip, just go online and find the location of the charging stations on your intended route and plan around that."
The MG4 has impressed Mr Thompson at every step of his motoring journey so far and said he has often sung the praises of the car to his family and friends.
"I have recommended the MG4 to many friends and neighbours. The price, the ride, easy charging, and how the extra acceleration helps in heavy city traffic," he said.
"I think the future of EV's in Australia is bright, particularly given the number of EV's available now and thanks to companies like MG the prices are now very competitive."
"We are thinking of selling our petrol vehicle and getting an Essence 64 or waiting to see if MG brings an all-new SUV to the Australian market."
