Humans of MG: Mya, Apprentice Mechanic - Alto Blacktown MG
In the world of storytelling platforms, Humans of MG is a new series exploring the diverse range of professionals working behind the scenes at MG Australia and New Zealand. Each week, we will showcase our people’s work, passions, stories and at the core – what drives them to work for MG everyday.
Mya - Apprentice Mechanic at Alto Blacktown MG
"Your patience is your power."
That is the motto that MG Alto Blacktown's third year apprentice Mya swears by and it's how the mechanic approaches her work in the automotive industry.
The technological innovation of the company as well as their recent re-entry into the car in Australia and New Zealand is what Mya said drove her to begin her career with MG.
"I enjoy the learning experiences, becasue MG is newer to the market, it is interesting seeing the different and new parts and features you don't usually see on other brands," she said.
"I like working with and on cars because there is always something new to
learn."

Mya said there still seems to be a misconception that there is a barrier for females to enter the automotive industry, and she hopes to inspire others to pursue careers in the field with the opportunities plentiful according to the junior mechanic.
"If you really are passionate about cars, go for it - there are so many opportunities you get in this field that you can't get elsewhere," she said.
"My produest moment since starting with MG would probably be replacing a full set of engine mounts without help from any of the technicans...you won't need a man at the end of the day because you have yourself."
Helping people efficiently and getting customers back in their MG as soon as possible is what Mya said is at the core of what she does and why she loves her job.
"Fixing cars and delivering them back to the customer is the most rewarding part of my work, it feels good fixing something and getting a customer back on the road."
"It drives me as a person to make other people happy."
